A Story From My Own Life

Within songs, there are hidden messages to be reveled. In the song ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ by Taylor Swift, there are many stories to be told through this one story. With little deciphering, Taylor’s song creates a story as it helps us see through the eyes of someone else and shows us the consequences of our actions. Taylor Swift helps us see through her eyes as she is singing the song in first person. Taylor sings,
“I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So shame on me now.”
It helps us view how she sees things. We see through Taylor’s eyes that she has preconceived judgments on this guy that she is singing about.
The song also is also an example of the consequences to our actions. Taylor writes,
“I guess you didn't care
And I guess I liked that
And when I fell hard
You took a step back
Without me, without me, without me
And he's long gone
When he's next to me
And I realize the blame is on me”.
Taylor says ‘the blame is on me’ when she realizes that she has to face the consequences to the actions she’s made. She knew the guy was trouble from the beginning and that she would get her heart broken though she went through with him. Within Taylor Swift’s song, we find true meaning’s and it’s not simply a song with a catchy tune. Taylor is telling the story of herself and a boy but it is much more intricate once broken apart and examined a little closer.
